Dr. Chang carefully avoids using any dental materials that his patients might be sensitive to. You may already know that mercury fillings are toxic, but did you know that many crowns and bridges also contain hidden metals that can cause allergic reactions? For example, the nickel hidden under a crown may cause an allergic reaction such as swollen gums.
Dr. Chang has a CEREC machine to his office—a milling machine that carves a crown while the patient waits. Then, he tests each patient to determine which of several ceramic formulas would be most compatible for that patient. A small block of that ceramic goes into the machine and a finished crown is the result.
A similar process occurs when a bridge is to be placed. The least toxic materials are used to build the bridge and the correct material is chosen so the patient receives exactly what the compatibility testing reveals is the safest material for them.
By integrating holistic dentistry with his conventional dental care, Dr. Chang is able to preserve the health and wellness of his patients.
